พลันได้ยินชื่อ ด้านใน ส\.ศิวรักษ์ ทำให้ผมนึกถึงคำที่มีผู้กล่าวไว้ว่า ”รู้จักหน้า ไม่ร็จักใจ ไม่ร็จักความคิก ย่อมเข้าถึงจิตใจ”๑ทันที เพราะงานของอาจารย์สุรักษ์ที่ปรากฏในหนังสือเล่มนี้ ไม่เพียงแต่ร้อนแรงด้วยเรื่องเมืองเท่านั้น หากยังมีเนื้อหาที่วิพากษ์วิจารณ์สถาบันหลักในสังคมไทยอย่างจัง ๆ เช่น สถาบันสงฆ์ และสถาบันการศึกษา เป็นต้น รวมตลอดจนเรื่องประวัติศาสตร์ เหตุการณ์และตัวบุคคลกล่าวได้ว่า  นี่เป็นหนังสือที่จะสะท้อนความคิดที่อยู่ “ด้านใน”ของอาจารย์สุลักษณ์ ในวัย ๘0  ปีออกมาได้อย่างดี ฉะนั้น สิ่งที่ผู้อ่านจะได้นอกจากเนื้อหาที่ปรากฏร้อยเรียงเป็นตัวอักษรและ อาจจำนำพาให้ท่านเข้าถึงจิตใจของอาจารย์สุลักษณ์อีกด้วย

โดยที่เราไม่จำเป็นจะต้องเห็นด้วยกับความคิดของอาจารย์สุลักษณ์ในการแสดงทัศนะคติตางๆ ทั้งในด้านการเมือง ด้านศาสนา หรือกระทั้งการเล่าข้อเท็จจริงใรประวัติศาสตร์เพราะข้อเขียนของอาจารย์มีลักษณะ “ยั่วให้แย้ง” เสมอ ๆ นี่นับเป็นเสนห์อย่างหนึ่งของ ส\. ศิวรักษ์ ก็ว่าได้

ผมเริ่มอ่านหนังสือของอาจารย์สุลักษณ์ตอนเรียน ม\.ปลาย  โดยเล่มแรกที่อ่านคือ นายปรีดี พนมยงค์ ตาม ทัศนะ ส\.ศิวรักษ์๒ ตามมาด้วย นายป๋วย อึ๊งภากรณ์ ผู้ใหญ่ที่ไม่กะล่อน๓ โดยที่ตอนนั้นยังไม่รู้ด้วยซ้ำว่า ส\.ศิวรักษ์ นี่ ชื่อจริงว่าอะไร จนมาเข้ามหาวิทยาลัย เห็นโปสเตอร์งาน ปาฐกถา ๔0 ปีมูลนิธิโกมลคีมทอง ที่มี ส\.ศิวรักษ์ เป็นปาฐกในปีนั้น ก็นึกสนใจขึ้นมาอยากเจอตัวจริง ระหว่างนั้นเดินดูหนังสือในศูนย์หนังสือมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ ไปเจอ เสียงจากปัญญาชนสยาม วัย ๗๗ เข้า ก็ลองพลิกอ่านดูยังความแปลกใจขึ้นมาว่า ส\. ศิวรักษ์ คนนี้แปลกจริง พิมพ์หนังสือรวมงานของตัวเองอย่างงี้เชียวหรือ ไปพูดที่ไหน ให้สัมภาษณ์ที่ไหน เขียนอะไร หรือมีใครให้มาเขียนถึงอะไรถึง ก็เอามารวมหมดเลย ลงท้ายก็เสียเงินซื้อมาอ่านจนได้ วันงานปาฐกถาโกมลคีมทอง พ\.ศ\. ๒๕๕๔ ผมถือหนังสือที่เพิ่งซื้อมาไปให้อาจารย์เซ็น อาจารย์ก็สนทนาปราศรัยด้วยอย่างเป็นกันเอง พร้อพาไปบูธเคล็ดไทย แนะนำหนังสือเล่มนั้นเล่มนี้เป็นการใหญ่ จนผมได้หนังสือของอาจารย์มาอีกหลายเล่ม มี สาบเสือเมือพ้นภัยพาล เป็นอาทิ จากนั้นเรื่อยมาก็กลายเป็นแฟนหนังสือของอาจารย์ ด้วยความรู้กว้างขวางของอาจารย์ที่เปิดโลกทัศน์ของ “หมูในกะลา” อย่างผมให้กว้างไกลขึ้น แน่นอนว่าย่อมเป็นสิ่งที่ได้จากหนังสือ ประมวลงานประจำปีของอาจารย์เสมอมา หลังจากนั้นผ่านมา ๓ ปี ผมก็”ด้เป็นบรรณาธิการหนังสือของท่านในที่สุด\.

The book is a series of interviews with Ajahn Sulak by Pracha Hutanuwatr, a student and colleague of Ajahn for decades\. The book has now been translated into English by Zia Collins Free and edited by Jane Rasbash\.  Pracha is now running Awakening Leadership Training course in affiliation with INEB\.

We have also added some recent  lectures of Ajahn Sulak at Thammasat University translated from Thai,and his lecture at Ahmedabad,India and Vienna Jordan Baskerville translated Ajahn Sulak’s article ”Thai Buddhism in Transition”to include in this volume,also\.

I hope that this volume will help the the reader to understand Ajahn Sulak and his thinking\. INEB had hoped to publish a biography of Ajahn Sulak written by Matteo Pistono on his 84\<sup\>th\</sup\> birthday,27 March 2017\.But at that time the Thai criminal law; especially article 112; could result in arrest for lese\-majeste, so it was put on hold\. The biography will now be published abroad\. This volume could be a companion one to his biography and Matteo himself very kindly wrote the foreword to this volume\.
