URGENT APPEAL FOR HUMANITARIAN SOLIDARITY IN INDIA
I first believe that you are safe and secure at this moment, and that your family, relatives and folks are safe and secure!! I extend my unconditional support and expressing human solidarity along with you.
As you are aware about the outbreak of pandemic COVID-19 Virus which has taken away the lives of thousands and more to come due to the unpredictability factors revolving around us, we are making this earnest URGENT APPEAL FOR HUMANITARIAN SOLIDARITY.
Summary of the Notified Disaster due to COVID – 19 Pandemic Outbreak in India
· Despite very low testing rates and amid 21 days lockdown, India already has recorded 1250 cases and 35 deaths across the country as on 31 March 2020
·  The country-wide lockdown has crippled and brought the lives & livelihoods of 1.3 Billion people to complete standstill
·  India’s helpless poor are starving for food and struggling to get the essential items for their survival. The harsh brunt of the Corona pandemic has been at its worst on the children, women and the elderly.
·  Millions of daily-wage laborers cook or buy food with their earnings each day and sustain their family lives.
·   Thousands of sanitation workers who are engaged round the clock in waste disposals, cleaning sewers, garbage & trash sorting, etc without proper masks, gloves, boots or other necessary protection gears are particularly at critical risks.
·   The most affected include Daily Wage Workers, Industrial Laborers, Rickshaw & Cart Pullers, Portable Vendors & Street Hawkers, Domestic Assistants & Maids, Scavengers & Conservancy Workers, Auto& Taxi Drivers, Rag-Pickers, Load-men, Porters, Construction Workers, Carpenters, Mechanics, Gardeners and several others.
·  These vulnerable people don’t have any kind of social protection and are desperately seeking for assistance from people like you. Please kindly empathize, help and support!·   The mental health resulting from the impact of Corona pandemic is also at high risks among the poor, weaker and marginalized sections.
·   We also appeal to psychological counselors and psychiatrists to volunteer & freelance with us at FHSM in counseling the needy persons particularly in the context of arising stress and anxiety issues.
Please extend your solidarity and generosity in this very difficult moments of life where the language of humanism alone stands in saving thousands of lives depended on you.
